Ekiti state is in the Western Nigeria with 16 Local government areas which are; Ado-Ekiti, Ikere, Oye, Aiyekire (Gbonyin),Efon, Ekiti East, Ekiti South-West,Ekiti West, Emure, Ido-Osi, Ijero, Ikole, Ilejemeje, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ise/Orun, and Moba. The Ekiti people speak Yoruba language but slight differences are noticeable in the Ekiti dialect of Yoruba Language.

Ekiti state is blessed with numerous natural resources which include Kaolin, gemstone, limestone, and Gold amongst others.

Getting Around

Ekiti state is very peaceful, you can move from one place to another freely. Cab (taxi), motorcycle (popularly known as okada),walk around or ride bicycle are easy mode of transportation.

Shopping

Shopping in Ekiti is very easy as there are local markets with fresh food stuff around you. There are also big shopping malls located in the capital where you can get your groceries. The capital offers wide variety of interesting stores to get your stuff.

There are various places where you have varieties from fast food, sea food, continental and local cuisines to select from. Restaurants like Chicken republic, Tantalizers, Mr.Biggs amongst others are there to get good food in the state.  The Ekiti people love pounded yam so, if you want to try local cuisine go for pounded yam.

Places to visit:

Ikogosi Warm Spring: Ekiti is a city of hills and waterfronts. This makes for good picture scenery. Ikogosi warm spring is one of the best places in Ekiti to be. Behold the natural beauty and have a cool bath in the spring water.There are also supporting facilities provided to enjoy your stay.

Arinta waterfalls: Give your sight a treat by visiting the Arinta waterfalls at Ipole-Iloro in Ekiti state.  The waterfall is a unique natural feature you would love to see and take good pictures as the sight invites hikers for a climb.

Ugele hills: While in Ekiti, take your time to visit the Ugele hills to behold the gigantic hill that served as a safe abode during the 1967 war. It is said to have a cave that has the capacity to contain over 1000 people. It is located in ikere-Ekiti town and you can move around the city to view other hills like the Olosunta and Orole hills.
